Boldyn Networks reinforces its leading role in shaping the industry with a string of senior executive appointments

April 23, 2024 | London, England

Boldyn Networks (Boldyn), one of the world’s largest shared network infrastructure providers, is bolstering its technology leadership in the industry by appointing key executives to leading technology roles for group and market operations. Andy Penley has been named Group’s Chief Technology Officer. Marc Rohleder has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer for the US.  Seán Keating has been named Chief Technology Officer for the UK and Ireland, and Andy Conway has been appointed as Group Director of Technology Strategy.

All seasoned executives have contributed to Boldyn’s establishment as a neutral host powerhouse globally. Less than a year after becoming one brand, Boldyn is shaping the industry by accelerating 5G deployments, delivering an extensive portfolio of connectivity solutions - Wi-Fi, private LTE, small cells, fibre, DAS, macro sites, bespoke private networks- and looking into next-gen networks.

“Our business has evolved considerably in the past year, mainly due to the acquisitions of new businesses with more capabilities, and an expanded group of critical customers that want to partner with us in fulfilling their connectivity ambitions. This gives us an opportunity to re-focus our technology and operations for the next breakthroughs”, said Brendan O’Reilly, Boldyn’s Group Chief Operating Officer. “We’re privileged to have all these executives in our organisation who have already built a reputation as innovative leaders in the market, and who will take us and our customers to the next growth phase”.

The senior technology appointments are backed by Boldyn’s vision of unlocking the power of an interconnected future. Here are the details:

  • Andy Penley who currently serves as Group SVP for global RAN solutions, will take the newly created role of Group Chief Technology Officer, which will be responsible for coordinating overall product development, sharing best practices, and driving cross-market R&D. He will report to Brendan O’Reilly, Boldyn’s Group COO.
  • Marc Rohleder, US vice president for technology strategy, has been promoted to Chief Technology Officer, US, as previously announced. A recognised wireless veteran, Marc will be leading the US technology strategy, including next-generation neutral host network architecture and design strategy of cellular, Wi-Fi, and private networks, in addition to expanding the US innovation centre and partnerships.  Marc’s appointment is a testament to his strong leadership skills and invaluable contribution to the US business growth. Marc will report to Christos Karmis, CEO of Boldyn’s US business.
  • Seán Keating will move into the newly created role of Chief Technology Officer, UK and Ireland. Seán joined the Boldyn team in December 2021 having previously been CEO of Vilicom, a specialist wireless solutions provider, which was acquired by Boldyn. In his new role, he will accelerate product innovation through focused product definition and roadmap development. He will also integrate and lead a dedicated group of pre-sales engineers to create enhanced solutions for customers in this region. Seán will report to Billy D’Arcy, CEO of Boldyn’s UK and Ireland business.
  • Andy Conway has been appointed Group Director of Technology Strategy. Previously as director of solutions and innovation for Boldyn’s UK and Ireland business, Andy has been instrumental in creating Boldyn’s technical solution for Boldyn’s partnership with Transport for London (TfL) to bring 5G to the London Underground and establish a new fibre backbone across London. Andy has also guided Boldyn’s partnership with Sunderland to create the UK’s most advanced smart city. He will report to Brendan O’Reilly, Boldyn’s Group COO.
